HomeHAEMATURIA & BLADDER CARE

Blood in the urine deserves assessment.

Advice and investigation to identify the cause and plan the next step.

Get medical advice promptly

Ask for an urgent GP appointment or get help from NHS 111 if you have blood in your urine. Have this checked even if you notice very little blood or are unsure whether it is blood.

Investigating the cause

Investigations may include urine testing, imaging and cystoscopy, a camera examination of the bladder.

Professor Ilie can also assess bladder symptoms after previous pelvic radiotherapy. Treatment recommendations depend on the cause and findings.
